Kaede Saito (斉藤 楓 Saitō Kaede) was the older sister of Minoru Kokubunji, as well as the basis of Yuzuki, Minoru's custom-made persocom. She was later revealed to be the same Kaede from Angelic Layer.
Appearance[]
Kaede was a bespectacled adolescent girl with brown eyes, and long chestnut-brown hair that she kept in low braided pigtails.
Personality[]
Kaede was known for her quiet nature and kindness during the events of Angelic Layer. Her father would comment that because of this, he could not believe that Kaede would partake in a fighting game. Like Minoru, she was also known for her intelligence.
Biography[]
Kaede lived with her father after the divorce of her and Minoru's parents. Two years before the events of Chobits, she died of an illness.
Legacy[]
Her death so greatly impacted Minoru that he created his persocom Yuzuki in her likeness and with a personality based on Kaede's.
Etymology[]
- Her given name Kaede (楓) means "maple."
- Her surname Saito (斉藤) consists of "alike" (斉) and "wisteria" (藤).

- In the Chobits manga, it was explained that Kaede and Minoru's parents are divorced, hence the difference in their last name.
