Yumi was Ueda's persocom and employee, working at Chiroru as a waitress. Originally, she was bought by Ueda to help him with math and accounting but would eventually become his wife.
Background[]
During the development of Ueda and Yumi's relationship, he fell in love with her and proposed. They married, but tragedy soon befell the couple. Yumi, being an older model, developed a hard drive fault and would eventually lose all her memories. She was hit by a truck, saving Ueda from being hit, and was too damaged to be repaired. Her last words were "Nice to meet you," the default greeting of many persocoms.
Legacy[]
Her marriage to Ueda was very unusual, causing quite a stir within the shopping district, and even made the news. Her death also became a news story, with Ueda insisting that Yumi not just be acknowledged as a persocom.
Yumi's story also drove a wedge for a time between Ueda and Yumi Omura, as the latter feared that she would constantly be compared to the other Yumi and be found lacking.
